SELECTION TOOL
For the Airlines with
ambitions to keep the pilot selection in-house, we offer a
cost-effective supportive tool for the selection staff. It is a Windows
based test suite measuring 10 vital aptitudes. The results are
accessible for analysis either by the airline’s own experts or mailed for
an evaluation to Albert Consulting. It is strongly recommended
that this aptitude test are combined with a second step for those who
pass the test, where a professional assessment of the candidates'
personality is examined by an authorized aviation psychologist.
The test is based on 20
years of experience of pilot testing in an multi-international
environment combined with the new technological opportunities offered by
computer power. The test standards are individually adjusted to
different cultures. PTS measures the following
dimensions:
Mechanical Comprehension
The score is based on
basic technical and mechanical items of medium complexity. This part of
the test predicts intuitive understanding of mechanical matters, more
than theoretical knowledge.
Estimation Ability
The score is based on
ability to make estimations of a set of various tasks, with priority on
giving sound estimations with a fairly high speed.
Speed and Accuracy of Perception
The score is based on ability to read instrument settings, to perceive
and apply that information quickly and accurately. This test is also
often highly correlated to the ability to reason, judge and decide with
acceptable speed and confidence.
Spatial Ability
The score is based on ability to identify the position of different
aircraft with the help of some basic flight instruments. The test
measures the ability to orientate oneself in the air space in three
dimensions with a good speed and accuracy.
Logical Reasoning
The score are based on
ability to find logical systems and patterns in series of numbers. The
scores are well correlated also to general problem solving ability.
Memory Functions
The score is based on
ability to memorize data despite interrupting tasks and parallel problem
solving.
Operational Speed and Accuracy under Stress
Two tests used and the
scores indicates both quality and speed in mental operations under
stress. The score is based on ability to keep an adequate function level
intact as workload, pressure and simultaneous demands increase.
Divided Attention/Multi-tasking
An ability to perform
multiple tasks at the same time. Close variation of this term is split
vision, multi-tasking or simultaneous capacity.
English
The score is based on
ability to manage English vocabulary and grammar. The test is of medium
complexity and designed for non-native English speakers.
Personality Profile
While all personality
inventories should be interpreted and handled by trained psychologists,
this test doesn't result in a complete profile. However, it might
indicate some patterns which are non-compatible with piloting and are
recommended for further examination.
SPECIFICATIONS
Approximately
300 MB space and 1 MB cache memory are needed to run the application
smoothly and after a quick installation you are ready to test the first
candidates. The test is totally mouse operated and the only extra
equipment you need is earphones. The test takes 3 hrs per candidate,
but one administrator can easily handle up to 10/12 candidates at the
same time / provided that you have enough computers.
The
results are saveable in the economic .txt format or the more elegant
.tbk (toolbook).
We also offer solutions for massprint of the results and transfer of the
results into a summary excel sheet as well , for further statistical
arrangements.
The
presentation of the test is standarized for each candidate. The
instructions are optimized by programmed teaching and the candidate has
to solve exercise tasks before they are able to continue. This guarantee
that the candidates have understood the instructions.
There are
several advantages compared to traditional paper-and-pencil
and the test environment is better adapted to the working requriements.

SERVICES
We offer services on 3
level:
Level
1: We take care of the total test process and
reduce your candidate list to those candidates who have necessary
aptitudes for successful flight training.
Level
2: We train your staff to administrate the
test. The results are the results are e-mailed to Albert Consulting for
evaluation and within a couple of days the airline will recive our
recommendations for passed and not passed.
Level
3: We train your staff to administrate the
test and to interpret the results as well. |
