When Alice in Wonderland, got lost in the
forest , she met a cat and asked the cat how
to get out. He asked her where she would like to go and when she replied
that she didn't care, she just wanted to get out of the forest, the cat
answered that she could go in any direction. Sooner or later she
would come out.
"If you don’t know where you are going,
any road will get you there” (Henry Kissinger)
In an effective organization sooner or
later is not enough. An effective Leadership Model is a powerful guiding
instrument to make adequate choices in the daily operations.
All successful organizations have an effective leadership
model. SCANIA's Leadership principles are called “Leadership for Business
Excellence” and SAS's model is called “Supporting Leadership”. Winners
are those organizations that not only present the model on flashy overheads
but are able to link it to their vision, strategy and values. The winners
see to that the model turn into flesh and blood through a consistent
application in the daily operations. It is visible in recruitments, in
succession planning, PD-talks, remuneration systems and leadership training
